Zoo Tycoon
Zoo Tycoon: Complete Collection
I bought this for my granddaughters, ages 9 and 8. They're a tad precocious, a friend's 11-year-old son liked the game and recommended it, and also my son (the girls' father) took the demo for a "test drive." So I was expecting my grandgirls to like it, but ... they LOVED IT! I couldn't get them to play anything else!! My son homeschools the girls, and I could see he liked the idea of being able to "educate" them about how to optimize their zoo, and the girls responded well to his advice. Plus, they exercised an enormous amount of creativity in the way they designed and maintained their zoos. Since they and their father had so much fun playing the game, I had to try it. I quickly became addicted. You should see my Asian Zoo ... !
Nancy DrewNancy Drew: Warnings at Waverly AcademyAfter being sorely disappointed by the previous installment in HER's usually fun Nancy Drew series, I admit I was a bit apprehensive about this one. Happily, however, I thoroughly enjoyed this solid game. Burnout ParadiseBurnout ParadiseMake action your middle name, as you control what happens when and where in Burnout Paradise. Welcome to Paradise City. Immerse yourself in the open roads of Paradise City from the downtown streets through the hectic freeways to the sweeping mountain roads; the world is waiting to be explored. Slam, Shunt and Wreck opponents in cross-town race events, where you decide the fastest route to the finish line. Hit the jumps and find shortcuts, smash through barriers and get to the places that other racers can't reach to get that competitive edge. Meet your friends online with the revolutionary EasyDrive system that smashes through the tedium of lobbies and servers and cuts straight to the chase. Forza 2 (Platinum Hits)Forza 2 (Platinum Hits)I was a late comer to the XBOX360, buying in Feb 09, and it's also the first console I've owned. I've played many driving games on my PC's over the years, but this is the best by far. Be aware, it's not really an arcade game, but more of a driving simulator. You can't keep the accelerator mashed the whole time and hope for the best, or bounce off walls to make the turns. You have to drive like you would in your own car - well twice as fast, but you get the point - breaking and sensible accelating definitely count. |
Dirt 2Dirt 2I have been playing this like crazy since it came out. Up till now I had not considered an off-road game to be something I would enjoy. Dirt 2 has thoroughly changed my mind. From its beautiful graphics, To the small details thrown in, like how you can see your stats and global stats on little bits around the game. Look at a magazine cover and you will find the number one track according to the global player base or check the upper right of your clip board and see how many feet youve been on 2 wheels. Silly little tidbits like that make the game very real and fun to keep going back to. Need for SpeedNeed for Speed: ShiftI haven't played a Need For Speed game since probably the original release(s) several years ago. This one got pretty good reviews for the most part so me and some friends picked it up when it had a temporary price decrease on Amazon. Xbox 360 Wireless Racing WheelXbox 360 Wireless Racing WheelThis wheel is a blast! I was already addicted to Forza 2 and was moving steadily up in my career with the regular game controller. With this racing wheel (and pedals), I'm moving up even faster than before and the experience is dizzying - literally. I have my setup about 3 feet from a 50" plasma and the feedback of the wheel is so realistic that I was getting odd dizzy effects when going in and out of tight corners because my body was expecting to feel real world forces from the seat against my back and sides - and they of course were missing. Make no mistake, this isn't a bad thing - its a testament to the realistic feedback of the wheel. |
